Jason Rasevych (Chief’s Warrior) is an accomplished economic and business development professional with over 20 years of experience working with First Nations, community economic development corporations and various government departments. He specializes in strategic planning, infrastructure development, corporate governance structuring, negotiations, financial advisory and due diligence, business start up and turn around, proposal development, and project management. He has a proven track record for success and secured over $500 million for capital projects. He is the leading mind behind many special projects including the largest infrastructure investment in Ontario’s history with $69 million to extend broadband fibre optics to 5 remote First Nations. Jason led negotiations with the MNRF for a historic agreement that allowed three First Nations to takeover forest management of the Ogoki Forest. Jason is Anishnawbe from Ginoogaming First Nation Member. In 2015 he was invited to Guatemala to provide shareholder advocacy strategies to remote Indigenous Mayan tribes from Central and Latin America. This re-kindled a lifelong passion working towards government and corporate adoption of the United Nations Declaration of Indigenous Peoples and the Free Prior Informed Consent Principles. Jason has been appointed on several boards including the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund (NADF), Ginoogaming First Nation Timber Claim Trust, Native Camp Operators Alliance, and the Canadian Institute of Marketing. He was also invited to the Ontario Power Authority Remote First Nations Transmission Planning Committee, Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Regional Economic Strategic Planning Committee, Oshki Wen-Jack Business Advisory Committee, and the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) task force for Natural Resource Canada. In 2018, Jason was recognized as one of Canada’s top economic developer by CANDO. That same year he led Agoke Dev Corp to partnership of the year at the NADF business awards. In 2019, he was named by NR CAN as a 20/20 catalyst one to watch for leading in the development renewable energy systems and micro-grids in indigenous communities. In September 2019 he was honoured to also lead Agoke to First Business of the year (excellence) at the Northern Ontario Business Awards in Sault Ste Marie. He also co-founded the Anishnawbe Business Professional Association to lead in advocacy for indigenous business in the northern economy.
